GOOEY

or Night comes like a treacle downpour and sis, I come alive for it.

Wood ash, natural charcoal, burnt wood, dirt, concrete, utility paint, beeswax, oil, acrylic, aerosol, damar, uv archival spray on stretched canvas.

I have long had a fascination with black paintings--Kazimir Malevich's crackling black square gets whimsical and haptic when brought into my universe of rotting colours, however. I wanted to create something that felt so textural it was appetizing--something that poured over itself, that was crunchy and velveteen and bubbling over with jet blackness. Undulating and dripping in heavy gobs of shadow, a potent bit of darkness.
